BYE BYE HOUSE & ALASKA!

IT WAS SWELL....WELL, MOST OF THE TIME

I was thinking today after moving everything out of my Desiree house, that I was there the longest time since living in Anchorage. Nine years. The house was good to me -  it's made this whole adventure possible.  Bella & I were pretty happy on Desiree. And I am truly grateful.

I would like to take the time once again to thank some very special people who not only encouraged me, called me "Brave," helped me shlep my furniture, bins & boxes into the storage unit, gave me much needed hugs, offered places stay until I get on a plane, & made buying my house a joy:  My dear friend Jody for love & encouragement (I even got to sleep in MY bed last night!).  For Jody, Lisa, & Paul for the fabulous send off gathering on your patio.  My wonderful sisters Joni & Janie for all their help along the way since last December.  My community of sweet pals who never once said "WAIT! Are you crazy??"  But instead said, "I am sooo jealous!" To Dan for buying my stickin' house & letting me live there a month and half after it sold.  And to my dear sons Ryan & Reid who said things like: "What took you so long to do what will make you really happy?  That is soooo cool!  Can I visit you?  You are a warrior Mom!!"  And finally, "yes I can help you - I'll be right over!"

I will never, ever forget your kindness to me~

Never have I packed up like this.  Where I sold more than half of my stuff, gave away A LOT, moved items into storage, and packed for a big honkin' trip.  Whew!

I moved to staging what I will take.  Really important to travel light as most places I will be staying have narrow, steep stairs (if I'm not on the ground floor) to maneuver and I am my own Sherpa..

I am only taking 2 carry-on sized suitcases and a backpack.  Which turned out to be heavier than I would've liked.  Around 35 pounds each..
Spent time with friends & family this past week.  And I was upgraded from Seattle to London into premium class (Icelandic Air doesn't call it "First Class").  So it's bigger seats & legroom all the way to London for Meggy June!

Left for airport at 1:30am and buzzed through security in no time flat.

Chasing the sunrise

Hello Seattle - looking sunny & beautiful today! Took the luggage picture in case Iceland Air misplaces something.  I can say more than "purple e-bag & red samsonite."  Airport is hopping busy and lots of people with pups this morning.

Interesting observation while watching people.  People here are not chatty & sauntering.  Like in the grocery store or in the aisles at Costco.  Nope. They are all about the business of getting to where they are going - hurriedly too!

Next time I will report from LONDON!
